Welcome to Healix Wellness, Geelong’s best Remedial Massage Therapy clinic dedicated to treating the cause of your pain and not just the symptoms.
Our passion at Healix Wellness is to identify the cause of your pain and/or dysfunction to ensure that you have less pain throughout your life, not just a couple of days. Often, through our expert use of remedial massage therapy, we find that the pain being felt is separate to the cause. Our assessments and treatments, including our specialized remedial massage therapy techniques, will assist you in understanding and effectively managing these causes.
What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial Massage includes assessment techniques to give a greater understanding of the cause of your pain, then applying technique(s) to assist your body’s own healing ability to:

• Repair
• Restore function
• Decrease pain
• Decrease muscular tension
• Decrease chronic pain
• To keep you comfortable and provide the best treatment, we will use a selection of Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Joint Mobilization, Dry Needling, Cupping, Myofascial Release Techniques, and/or PNF Stretches.

Dan Smith - Soft Tissue Therapist
Daniel Smith
Soft Tissue Specialist
With over 13 years in the personal training and massage industries, as well as my thirst for information, I bring a wealth of skills and knowledge to assist in the treatment of pain, dysfunctions and soft tissue conditions
"After completing my post diploma studies with Sportsmed SA, I joined the Athletics Australia massage team, working with the 2014 Commonwealth Games athletes in Germany and England.
I am a trainer and assessor, teaching the Diploma of Remedial Massage and educating new therapists to provide high standards of treatment skills to the community for the benefit of the community. A happy and pain free person is a productive person.
Having worked with a variety of people and bodies, I am committed to continually studying and expanding my knowledge and treatment of pain, dysfunctions, injuries and other soft tissue, structural and neural conditions.
I am proud to be a certified Neil Asher Technique therapist for the treatment of Frozen Shoulder.
This debilitating condition can last up to 40 months untreated and involves a significant level of pain and limited range of movement. This revolutionary technique has scientifically proven results with minimal discomfort to the client. Adapted to the hip by Stuart Hinds, I am fortunate to have also learnt and implemented this technique for hip and lower back pain with amazing results.
I pride myself on my clinical, personalised approach to every client and have developed a strong network of allied health professionals to ensure each person is provided with the most complete and professional treatment relevant to their condition. “

" There aren't many that have the combination of anatomical knowledge, movement understanding, technical ability and care that Dan has. He genuinely takes the time to assess, consider and remedy issues for the benefit of both athletic performance and client wellbeing. Dan invests the time into solving complex and often difficult to determine issues and listens to all the musings of self-diagnosis without judgement.
Dan has absolutely helped in my athletic pursuits over the past 12 months - through recovery, race preparation and injury prevention as well as mental wellbeing. I would recommend his services to anyone searching for athletic improvements, self improvements and/or personal wellbeing. "

" I am a senior Finance executive and spend much of my life in front of a computer and although I work out in the gym, I still spend much of my time sitting. I have scoliosis in my neck and some damage to the vertebrae which, if not managed, can be quite painful.
I originally began going to Dan as my neck and shoudler muscles were extremely tight (close to frozen) and I had little movement in that area. Dan has been able to offer me healing hands to manage the damage in my neck...I have always felt comfortable, cared for and safe on his table...He listens! He takes his cue from you, he talks to you, asks for feedback and is responsive in his methods of individualising his care.
He is very knowledgable, grounded and tuned in to his client. He also continues to learn new massage and related techniques that make him even more expert in his craft.

Dan really listens to your concerns and then uses his knowledge to explain how he will proceed. He invests his personal time in determining which treatment would be most useful and provides suggestions explaining what he does. He is also open to any questions and its obvious that his knowledge of skeletal and muscular structure is impressive.
I deeply apprectiate not only his superlative massage therapy skills and expertise, but also his unquestionable integrity, sensitivity and his sense of humour!! "

" I have been seeing Dan Smith for massage for 3 years. I had chronic back problems for 6 years, which my physiotherapist and doctor could not rectify. On meeting Dan, he was able to identify the problem and with time completely rectified my back problems. I have found Dan to be extremely professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone requiring his professional skills. "

" I went to see Dan because of a long standing issue with my right shoulder and AC joint. I had limited movement and was advised by another health professional to have an operation. Rather than take that option, I was referred to Dan by a friend.
I was very impressed by Dan's ability to understand and identify the issues with my shoulder and his ability to clearly articulate what sort of treatment he had in mind to resolve my problem.
It was only a matter of a few short months for me to achieve a greater range of movement and now going forward I am virtually symptom free. Thanks Dan for your continued care. "

" Dan has been my massage therapist for the last 3 years. Dan always took the time to talk about what pain and issues I was experiencing with a view to finding the cause of the problem, not just treating the symptoms. He used a consultative approach to treatment, outlining what he was planning, and then getting feedback on how effective it was for me. I have been using massage for the last 20 years, and Dan is one of the best. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a therapist. Geelong’s gain is Adelaide’s loss.
Side note: Kathy decided she would write two testimonials for me......I wasn't sure which one to use......
Dan has been my massage therapist for the last 3 years. Don’t be fooled by the boyish good looks and charm, underneath that exterior he is evil – inflicting pain at every opportunity, and managing to stay just out of reach at all times. However he does have a great sense of humour which helps take the edge off the pain. Why did I keep going back? – Because he’s good at what he does. "
